Melissa is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who is committed to providing the highest standards of practice set forth by the profession of Marriage and Family Therapy. Melissa is an attachment-based therapist who is a passionate believer in the human capacity to evolve and lead increasingly productive, meaningful and pro-social lives. She views psychotherapy as one particularly efficacious tool for self-improvement, healing, and the cultivation of well-being.
Melissa began her formal education and training to become a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in 2009. She obtained her Masters of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University, Irvine, in 2012. She completed her Doctorate (Psy.D.) in Psychology with an emphasis in Couple and Family Therapy, from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University in May 2017.
Melissa specializes in working with adults, new parents and couples. Melissa is an Infant Mental Health Specialist who has extensive training and experience working with couples transitioning to parenthood. Melissa's research interests include: Infant Mental Health, Attachment, Parenting, Couples, Transitioning to Parenthood, Work-Family Conflict, Gender Issues, Shame and Vulnerability. She recently concluded a study on The Narratives of Career Driven Women and Their Experiences of Motherhood.
Melissa is co-owner of Central Valley Family Therapy. In addition to her clinical work, she also supervises MFT- Associates at the practice, and is passionate about educating and training clinicians, as well as, increasing the availability of mental health services to all individuals and families, regardless of socio-economic status.
Jennell, is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and co-owner of Central Valley Family Therapy. In addition to providing clinical work, Jennell supervises the Associates at Central Valley Family Therapy and provides consultation to medical offices in the areas of mental health as well as consultation services to other Therapists looking to start private practice.
Jennell began her formal education and training to become a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in 2007. She obtained her Bachelors of Science in Criminology from California State University Fresno in 2007, followed by her Masters of Arts in Psychology Marriage and Family Therapy from National University San Diego in 2010. Subsequently, Jennell completed an extensive Fellowship from University of California Davis Extension from the Napa Infant-Parent Mental Health Fellowship in 2016.
Jennell specializes in working with adults, new parents and adolescents. Jennell is passionate about working in the area of Women’s Reproductive Mental Health (i.e. infertility, prenatal loss, post abortion trauma grief and loss, and traumatic birth experiences), grief and loss, relationship conflict, depression and adjustment disorders.
Jennell is passionate about providing a quality service to her clients regardless of socio-economic status. She is also focused on increasing the availability of mental health services to individuals and families in the valley.
